1944年6月6日，诺曼底登陆日夜晚，法国科唐坦半岛（Cotentin　Peninsula），一台“霍莎”滑翔机（Horsa　glider）降落时翻转坠地。在事故中丧生的伞兵的尸体被放在草地上。
